Definitely worth having this kit. I am glad I purchased the set. The frother makes prep quick and efficient.

This frother is so well made and has just the right amount of power to froth really well. I have been looking for a good frother (bought and returned many) and this is the one, finally. The matcha scoop, sifter and towel were added bonuses for me. I always drink matcha cold but with these new tools I am going to try scooping, sifting and drinking a hot matcha too.

Good value

The set is a very good value for the price. The sieve is smaller than what you find at Walmart or Target, so it is definitely worth it for matcha. All in all, this is a very good deal.

Decent set!

While I wasn't sure if I should get a bamboo scoop at first, this whole set has been pretty much everything I felt I needed outside of the kettle, a cup, and a cup measure for water (I know the cup measure isn't 100% necessary, but I'm detail oriented). I also think it's really well priced. Cheap to the wallet, but not in quality.

However, I do think it'd be nice if the frother was a bit slower, bc I splatter a lot with only 2oz in my cup, and I wish this set came with a stand for the frother, even for a couple extra bucks. I never know where to put the frother afterwards, without worrying it's going to drip onto itself or getting splashes of bright green matcha all over the place.

Nice

Everything I needed (beginner) beyond a cup and kettle. The only thing I might change is a slower ramp of the whisk to full speed. With my cup, a little splatter seems inevitable.

Lovely set!

I love this matcha set, and am really happy I got it along with my first match order! The bamboo spoon is the perfect size for the sieve, and the frother is really powerful, and all of it honestly just looks quite nice.

I feel like I have a proper matcha ritual now!

Great set to get into Matcha

This was a great little set to get into making Matcha (especially when paired with an intro flight and a tumbler for the full experience). Already placed my next order of Matcha so looking forward to using this set even more!

Perfect Combination of Modern and Traditional

This kit with the traditional scoop but modern frother and sifter really does help you prepare the perfect cup of matcha. Be careful to watch videos about the frother because it really can make a huge mess if not used correctly. Much like in Japan, Breakaway Matcha really puts a lot of effort into the presentation of the boxes with perfectly wrapped tissue paper around each item and delivery is super quick.

For the tea collector

I wanted to try the Breakaway Matcha method of preparing tea so I went out on a limb and purchased the tool kit. The shipping as always is one of the main incentives that I support Breakaway Matcha. I ordered on a Friday and received by Monday! Aside from that, it's a beautifully package kit in the traditional sense. I did not realize the frother did not come with batteries not a deal breaker. Once I had everything set up, I proceeded to make my first cup Breakaway Matcha style and it did not go so well. I splattered most of the Matcha out of my cup. I'm thinking I need to purchase a tumbler as the one that I use is traditional using the whisk. Practice, Practice but it's something ethereal when preparing Matcha the traditional way.

The perfect set

I have been drinking matcha every morning for about 8 years, maybe longer. I finally decided that I needed some new equipment. It was nice to have all three of these things I needed packaged together. The sieve is especially nice. I like the shorter handle and it seems to rest very securely on my mug or my new Tumbler. Having the right equipment makes everything go so smoothing in the morning. I am more efficient, not hassled and do not waste any of the precious matcha powder as I start my morning meditation sipping my delicious BreakAway Matcha.

Match a tools.

So important to making a good cup of tea! Tried it without, wasted good matcha because of clumping of the matcha!

Amazing value

I ordered this tea kit to take my matcha to another level and it did just that! A low price, great quality, and every piece is aesthetically pleasing. Shipping was also very prompt (as fast as Amazon Prime, Wow!). In summary, if you want to achieve a great cream and flavor in your matcha at least buy this kit or a chasen. I would also highly recommend purchasing a creamer as well, the aero latte functions best in vertical centric containers.

Tool Kit is a must!

The Breakaway Matcha toolkit opened up my whole experience with matcha. I had been preparing matcha without the toolkit for a year prior to discovering the kit on the breakawaymatcha.com site. Well, the right tools for the right job make all the difference in the world. After getting and using the tools I really began to experience matcha made correctly. There is an enormous difference before and after getting the right tools. Now in my opinion one can never have too many toolkits. I have one in use, one in my suitcase, and another on standby.

Such a really lovely ceremony!

Love these little tools that make my monrning Matcha. Can scoop the exact amount
of Matcha I want with the bamboo scoop.
Love the so easy to use whisk.
Didn't know March tasted so good before I found
Breakaway Macha company!

Fabulous tools!

Love these little tools! Such a fun way to start the day, slightly ceremonial but oh so easy. Two little things to remember: Don't put the bamboo scoop in the dishwasher unless you want a bamboo stir stick, and if your whisk gets a little slow over time, change the batteries (I know, seems obvious, but ...) and stand back! Foam city on a fresh charge. Matcha jumping up out of the cup!

Perfect alone or better yet with the creamer!

I highly recommend the matcha tea tool kit and the creamer. The battery operated whisk makes blending matcha tea a breeze!
No more clumps left in the bottom of my cup! The bamboo scoop is cool to use and measures out just the right amount of matcha.
The sieve is also a must have! It fits perfectly on top of the creamer and makes sifting the matcha so easy.

I resisted purchasing these items when I originally bought some matcha tea from Breakaway. I have since come to realize that they
are well worth the small but extra investment of money! Needless to say, but, everything together makes all the difference in the world.

Great experience

I received this product for some design work I did and had never tried Matcha before. The experience was great and the Matcha was delicious. Such a nice, smooth tea, just in time for the cold weather. I'm making sure to take some home for Christmas to let everyone in on it!

Innovative & Effective

I was skeptical of the Aerolatte/sifter technique. Not now! It yields a wonderfully smooth and frothy brew—better than anything I could whip up with a bamboo whisk.

j

Sifter and Aerolatte are key!!

I love the Breakaway Matcha technique for making matcha. Although I still love using a whisk, the sifter is completely necessary for the smoothest cup of matcha and the aerolatte adds the perfect amount of foam.

Great tools to maximize your matcha enjoyment

The tools make it so easy. They were much appreciated as a gift for someone new to matcha to "froth away"!

Your Questions Answered

Mainly because the farmers and processors care so much; their processes take longer, require more steps, and are just harder. They’re pretty obsessed with producing Japan’s tastiest and healthiest matcha, and we don’t mind paying them well for the extraordinary product they produce. Rarity comes into it as well -- some blends, especially the named blends (Kamakura, Rikyu, Jizo, Hikari, Satoshi, and Daphne) have extremely limited production. These teas are hard to produce.

No. No sugar, additives, or any other nonsense. It’s 100% extraordinary green tea leaves, ground up into a fine powder.

Location on the tea plant, mainly. Hyperpremium is the baby leaves; we only use the newest growth. Imagine baby vegetables, baby herbs, microgreens. They haven’t had much time to develop much molecular complexity, so there are no bitter or astringent notes, just clean, chlorophyll-packed umami.

Leaves used for coldbrew are slightly older, and have a little more biocomplexity to them. That complexity does add some bitterness and astringency, but it’s undetectable when prepared with ice water, so it tastes rich and creamy. Yields are tiny for the hyperpremium, and yields are bigger with coldbrew (the leaves themselves weigh more, and are larger, hence bigger yields).

This term has lost most of its meaning. Because there is no governing body of any type that monitors/controls what can be labeled ceremonial, anyone can -- and does -- use this moniker to connote quality, even though much of the “ceremonial” matcha on the marketplace is in fact barely culinary -- much of it could be better described as “industrial.”

Moreover, many tea ceremonies in Japan notoriously serve sub-par matcha. In the end, many of the ceremonies aren’t really about tea at all, they’re about choreography and pedigree. Sometimes the teas are tasty, but more often they’re oxidized and bitter and astringent; hallmarks of culinary (or worse) matcha.

Some people insist on organic (generally for good reasons), so we searched hard for years and finally found what we feel is the tastiest and best organic matcha in the domestic Japanese market. However, our conventionally grown matcha is utterly safe, and it tends to taste better because its umami/amino acid structure is more pronounced.
