Matcha Sieve
Create a perfectly smooth matcha brew

Mugicha
$12.00
Mugicha, or barley tea, is a caffeine-free tisane made from toasted barley (mugi). It’s smoky, nutty, and very aromatic, with a faint sweetness. Most Japanese households have a pitcher of mugicha in their fridges during the warmer months – it’s incredibly refreshing in hot, humid weather. But it’s also tasty served hot.
Very easy to make: simply place a bag in a small pitcher (ideally one that fits inside your fridge door), fill with filtered water, and place in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
These 8-gram bags are slightly oversized, and make a liter of tea. You can also use multiple bags to make a concentrate, and dilute with water to your liking.
An excellent choice for staying well-hydrated during the day. It’s used extensively in Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory and for fatigue. It really does perk you up, all without caffeine!

Single-Serve Coldbrew Original Matcha
A convenient way to make coldbrew matcha on the go
$24.00
Need a convenient way to make coldbrew matcha on the go?
Perfect for travel -- they weigh almost nothing and take up almost no space. Many people keep them in purses, gymbags, carry-ons, even cars! Cyclists and fitness enthusiasts love them -- coldbrew is so much more satisfying than water when thirsty.
Each packet contains 1.5 grams of Coldbrew Original, the perfect amount of matcha for an 8 to 12-oz serving (depending on how thick/thin you like it).
Simply fill your water bottle, mason jar, or other clean jar with icy-cold water (with or without actual ice--just be sure the water is very cold), add the matcha, and shake hard for about 10 seconds. Microbubbles will begin to form and eventually create a gorgeous crema on top that resembles a Guinness draft!

Stagg EKG Kettle
What we use to brew matcha at Breakaway HQ
$180.00
To fully enjoy your hyperpremium matcha experience, it's really important to get the water temperature right; you should never use water hotter than 170F, let alone boiling water -- the ideal range for matcha is between 155F (68C) and 170F (77C);
The Stagg EKG kettle from Fellow is your perfect tool for this: You can quickly and easily set the water temperature to the exact degree desired, and within moments your water is ready. The kettle feels good in the hand, features an attractive, modern, minimalist design, and the precision pour spout and counterbalanced-handle make it a pleasure to use. Looks fantastic on the countertop.
We love this kettle so much it's the one we use to brew matcha at Breakaway HQ!
Main Features:
Variable Temperature Control – By turning the knob, you select your desired temperature ranging from 135°F to 212°F, and Stagg EKG does the rest. No more guessing degrees.
LCD Screen – See the temp. Be the temp. A discreet, black LCD screen indicates the desired “Set Temperature” and the “Real Time Temperature” with an illuminating element to show the heating progress.
Hold Option – When the toggle on the back is switched to HOLD mode, the Stagg EKG will maintain your desired temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius for 60 minutes. You know, for when you overestimate your ability to run two miles. When the toggle is not in HOLD mode, the kettle will go to sleep after reaching the set temperature.
Brew Stopwatch – After your water has heated, use EKG’s built in Brew Stopwatch to time your extraction.

Tanimura Bamboo Matcha Whisk
A gorgeous traditional whisk
$55.00
So many of you have asked us to source a good traditional whisk.
Mr. Tanimura is one of a handful of 20+ generations of traditional craftspeople based in Takayama, Nara Prefecture, and his work is gorgeous.
If you're looking for a very high-quality traditional whisk, you found it.
Light vs. dark is purely an aesthetic preference. They're a delight to hold and use, and they exude their beauty when not in use.
Roughly 66 tines, hand-carved in the "shin" style using properly aged white bamboo and shinchiku dark bamboo.
First use: The whisk is glued to the box using the ancient method of a paste made from rice. Grasp the handle and free it from the rice glue. Then, using a wet cloth, wipe off and remaining paper from the bottom of the base
After removing the whisk, rinse it gently with hot water before you use it. Shake off and let dry.
Care: gently rinse after use with warm water and shake off excess water.
